This project involved a 6m x 3m rear extension and full renovation of a family home in Sutton. Working from the client’s approved extension plans, we reviewed the proposed internal layout and identified an opportunity to make better use of the additional space. We therefore redesigned the ground floor into a more open-plan kitchen, dining and living area, creating a brighter and more spacious family home.
The clients wanted a contemporary Scandinavian-inspired interior, so we introduced a soft, earthy colour palette with an accent green kitchen as the main focal point. Natural textures, stone finishes and carefully selected decorative lighting add warmth and character, while the rooflights and large rear glazing bring generous natural light into the new space.
The kitchen island sits centrally between the dining and living areas, creating a natural connection between the three spaces and allowing the clients to cook and prepare food while still engaging with family and guests.
The renovation continues throughout the house with coordinated flooring, joinery, lighting and finishes, creating a consistent and contemporary feel. The completed project combines practical space planning with a warm, understated design, transforming the existing property into a modern and comfortable home.
